On Wednesday, February 3, 2016, Imam Antelpli, Chief Representative of Muslim Affairs, and Dr. Ellen McLarney, Assistant Professor and Director of Undergraduate Students accompanied a group of 13 students to the Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center to learn more about the religion of Al-Islam and the history of the Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center.
During the two hour luncheon hosted by Imam Greg Rashad and other members of the Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center, many questions were answered regarding the religion and the establishment of the Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center. The Duke Students had many questions regarding the establishment of Al-Islam in America dating back to the Nation of Islam. Many of the members in attendance provided a valuable history lesson for the students as many in attendance were members of the Nation of Islam.
I was truly moved by the words of your congregation, as were the students.Someone must write those stories down, get the testimonies of those men and women who have lived through such an important time in our history and in the history of Islam.I cannot thank you enough for letting us in to your “home” and introducing us to your family, both immediate and extended.
Each year the Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center host guest from area Colleges and Universities, and other religious organizations in order to provide an opporunity for others to learn more about the religion of Al-Islam and to get better acquainted with each other. As stated by Imam Greg Rashad, “Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center goal is to be a valuable member of the Durham Community serving the needs of our citizens in any way that we can.”
